This year will mark 30 years since ES SYSTEM K was founded, since the first cutting of sheet metal was made on Wrzosowa Street so that the first products with the ES SYSTEM K brand could go out into the world. And it wasn't always refrigeration equipment, but we'll talk about that periodically - in the next installments of our timeline: 30 years - respecting tomorrow. We start with a humble engineer who, despite the many patents to his credit, usually introduced himself as: Locksmith. Mr. Tadeusz Konsor was an outstanding engineer who, just a few years ago, willingly helped our R&D teams, breathed life into many a project developed at our factory. His real passion was machinery: hydraulic and mechanical presses, lathes, milling machines, injection molding machines, he was also keen on the latest generation technologies, such as the Yamazaki machining center.... But metalworking wasn't the only thing he was passionate about. He also liked to go out into the field, because ... “grain is life” and “it's not about money...”. Mr Tadeusz and his life companion Mrs Elizabeth are the firmest foundation on which today's ES SYSTEM K company stands.

Today, another installment of our 30-year history. In July 1995, Andrzej Konsor registers the ES SYSTEM K SP. Z O.O. company. The first shovel is driven into the boggy ground at Wrzosowa 10 Street, amidst peat bogs and mosquitoes - the construction of the first hall begins. Here a production facility of 1450 m2 is being built, which will grow over the years, providing jobs for many local inhabitants...

The beginnings of ES SYSTEM K were quite different from refrigeration. In 1997, the newly established factory on Wrzosowa Street in Wolbrom employed about 40 people who produced nearly 60,000 lamps a year, made to order for the lighting company ES SYSTEM from Krakow. All of this is thanks to the efforts of Andrzej Konsor - CEO of ES SYSTEM K and partners: Tadeusz Konsor, Bożena Ciupińska and Bogusław Pilszczek. Those were the days when the designs of the tools and the lighting fittings themselves were still created without advanced software for 3D design - back then a compass, a rapidograph and the great precision of engineers had to suffice. The production of refrigeration equipment started a little later, and ES SYSTEM K has proven more than once in its history its flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to the changing environment - ensuring production fluidity in the factory, protecting the jobs of its staff.

The end of the 1990s and the beginning of the new millennium is a time of dynamic development of the production plant on Wrzosowa Street. During this period, two new production halls with a total area of 4000 m² are built, and the machinery park is enriched with modern technologies related to sheet metal processing. Thanks to this, our production is no longer limited to lighting fixtures only. It is then that the first elements of refrigerated counters also appear on the machines.... And the best was yet to come

2002 - this is the moment when not only moulds and individual components of refrigeration equipment begin to be created on our production floor. It is then that such stars of refrigeration are born as Gemini, Andromeda, Libra, Orion, or Scorpion... Some of them can still be found in stores today. Some others - although they have undergone a serious technological and visual facelift - you can also find in our offer today.

The first cabinets that were created in our factory were given names derived from the Latin names of stars. Hence the slogan that accompanied the ES SYSTEM K brand in the beginning - it was: “stars cool”. Cosmic was also the first photo shoot - Dorado in the glow of lightning against a dark stormy sky, or Andromeda traveling on the colorful back of a beetle - today it looks like a well-edited prompt for AI generators, but it was the result of our unbridled imagination and vision from years ago.

Between 2003 and 2006 we set out into the world , having our first business trips in search of new technologies and new clients. It was during this time that we tried such specialties as chocolate-covered lard in Kyiv. Instead of getting to know us only through catalogues, the clients start to visit our headquarters, and our binders filled up with orders. Those conversations, meetings – that’s when new relationships were born that still last today. Our refrigeration equipment, all in gold (of course) began to appear on the first industry events, such as GASTRO EXPO in Gdańsk, where our multideck Antila won a prestigious award. Our first market line was also created. Those where pioneering years, very important ones… because courage we started our journey with, is still with us today.

In 2006, the production of refrigeration equipment at ES SYSTEM K is in full swing. We are the first manufacturer in Poland to install a station for filling refrigeration equipment with environmentally friendly R290 gas. In 2008, we exhibited for the first time at Euroshop, an international event dedicated to the latest trends in trade. This opened up completely new perspectives for us in terms of export development in geographical areas that were not obvious to us. Driven by genuine passion and dreams, from our position as the youngest and smallest company in the refrigeration industry, we quickly joined the group of companies that set the direction for the development of the HVACR industry.

In 2009, our refrigeration unit reached the finals of the Good Design Competition organized by the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw for the first time. Our team was in disbelief. Did someone really appreciate the design of a refrigeration unit? The Scorpion 03 multideck was no longer only appearing in shopping malls, but also in art gallery, when the IWP organized an exhibition of the best-designed products in Poland. This is a breakthrough moment - design is becoming an important element of the ES SYSTEM K brand image. We now take even greater care to ensure that our cabinets combine aesthetics, ergonomics, and functionality, responding to the needs of modern commerce. Every year, we receive more and more design awards, and creating beautiful and intelligent refrigeration solutions has become part of the company's DNA.

In 2010, demand for ES SYSTEM K refrigeration equipment is growing, reaching not only European countries but also beyond the Old Continent, and the Wolbrom plant is expanding to an area of nearly 9,000 m². At that time, our engineers, together with a friendly design office, created a new, extremely elegant line of confectionery equipment - Lenari. This brand also aroused genuine admiration among Italian craftsmen, who had the opportunity to admire Lenari equipment at the Sigep trade fair in Rimini in 2012. Timeless elegance means that Lenari cabinets are still chosen by many confectioners and ice cream makers as a symbol of classic beauty and functionality.

2014 was a significant expansion of the ES SYSTEM K brand into international markets. To better serve the needs of local customers, we opened several branches outside of Poland: ES SYSTEM K VOSTOK in 2014, then Lenari Italia in 2015, ES SYSTEM K Balkan in 2016, and ES SYSTEM K Mexico in 2019. At this time, we also began working with the largest convenience retail chain in Central and Eastern Europe. Refrigeration equipment evolved to meet the needs of smaller, yet highly convenient stores located near customers' places of work and residence, and ES SYSTEM K became the chain's technology partner, implementing numerous innovative retail solutions.

In 2018, we received an “Oscar” of design — the Red Dot Award, the most prestigious distinction in the world of industrial design. The award was given to the INSU ice cream display case. It was the first display case in the world to change the way ice cream is presented - from a horizontal to a vertical layout. The shape of the unit resembles a smartphone, with frozen desserts displayed like apps on the screen. At the same time, it is energy-efficient and user-friendly, earning recognition from the international jury. In 2020, we developed another proprietary solution - Smart Shop Control. This system allows facility owners, store staff and service technicians to monitor and manage the operating parameters of refrigeration equipment. The technology continues to evolve, enabling integration with other electronic systems in the store and becoming an effective tool for reducing energy consumption. It also provides real, everyday support for store operations.

2014 was After 30 years of activity, ES SYSTEM K represents 35,000 m² of production space and nearly 30,000 professional refrigeration units manufactured each year. But the most important number for us is 800 team members. These are the people who create with passion and set trends in the industry - working in sheet metal cutting and foaming, assembly and warehousing, accounting, R&D, procurement, and sales… In every refrigeration unit delivered to our customers, there is more than technology - there is the dedication and expertise of our people behind it. Thank you for that!

Final work on the construction of a new production hall

The new hall under construction in the vicinity of our headquarters is a space equipped with the latest technologies, which will further improve the quality of our devices. Currently, the working space is over 23,000 m², and the staff consists of over 500 employees!
